Here is where you will find answers to the most frequently asked questions. If a question you are looking for is not listed, CONTACT me and I'll do my best to answer it.

Q: How did you learn animation?

A: I attended The International Academy of Design and Technology in Tampa, Florida for two years. There, I learned the basics of animation, story boarding, animatics, etc. However, I learned a hell of a lot more on my own after graduating with just simple practice. This is not to say that going to art school is bad, but animation is something you can learn through internet tutorials and books. The good thing about the animation field is that it doesn't matter if you have a degree, you just have to have the skill.

Q: What programs do you use?

A: I have a range of programs that are used to create animation. The most widely used to bring everything to life is Adobe After Effects... not Flash. Flash is a great program but I have found After Effects to be just as good, and much easier to use. It's also great for video editing and effects. For a complete listing with details of all the programs that I use, visit the PROGRAMS tab above.

Q: How do you come up with your animation ideas?

A: Ideas are something that just come to me... like a flash. Sometimes they come one after another, which is why I named this site, "Attack Of The Idea". However, putting them into motion is another story.

Q: So what is the process?

A: The process most animators use is to create an idea, write it out, create story boards, character designs, animatics, etc. With my process, I typically write out an idea, design characters and scenery, voice act, and then put it into motion. I used to do storyboards and animatics, but as you develop your own style and process, you only do what steps you need to get the job done.

Q: How long does it take to create an animation?

A: It all depends on the amount of work that is put into an animation and where your skill level is at. When I created "Meet The Ericsons", it took me one year to create the project working three hours a day, five days a week typically. I created eighteen minutes of footage and used only ten minutes in the final cut. This was back in 2005-2006. However, if I were to recreate it today, it would probably take about four to six months working the same amount of hours and days... again, it all depends on what goes into it the project and your level of skill.

Q: Are you really a thirteen year old?

A: This question has always amazed me. If I could find a thirteen year old that could animate using all these programs, I'd recruit them in a second. No, I'm not thirteen, and I'm not Max. I'm twenty seven.

Q: How many people do you have working with you?

A: I've worked alone on my projects with the exception of my friend Anthony Philo who has helped with the background music from time to time. I am always looking to expand the horizons though. I f anyone is interested, CONTACT me.

Q: Who does the voices of all your characters?

A: I do all the voices, with the exception of "Planet Of The Zers". Voice acting is just another one of those skills that you work on and perfect just as often as you work on the rest of the animation process.

Q: How long have you been doing animation?

A: The first animation I did was back in 2001, and it was terrible. But as the old saying goes, practice makes perfect. Every animation there after improved until they became what you see today.

Q: Will you animate me?

A: Yes. I am a freelance artist. That doesn't mean I will do it for free, but my going rate is low. If you are serious about having a custom animation created, or even a piece of artwork, CONTACT me.
